Since losing my son a year and a half ago, I've been praying for God to lead me to something I could do in Ben's name to honor him. The donation of my son's organs saved five lives and I have since become a strong proponent of organ donation. As I was saying my final goodbye to him, the counselor from the organ procurement organization (OPO) handed me a crocheted blanket made of many individual pieces from volunteers sewn together. She told me I could use it to tuck my son in for the last time and then I could keep it. That act and that blanket meant (and still means) more to me than words could ever express. I have clung to that blanket many, many nights as l've cried myself to sleep and it brings me comfort. I would love it if you or groups that you're a part of would consider using some of your yarn scraps to help me in this ministry.
Along with each blanket, recipients will receive a card with Ben's photo and how he inspired us to start this ministry. I just know Ben is smiling up there!
